What caused the explosion that devastated the city of Beirut? 2,750 tonnes of ammonium nitrate, used not only as fertiliser in many countries of the world, but also as explosive, removed from a ship owned by a Cipriot that had been stuck in the port for a year for serious irregularities in its paperwork.
