Millstream Films and Media was present on August 14, 2018, the day the Morandi Bridge fell. The dust, the pulverized cement, the sirens and jackhammers pounding at the mountain of rubble piled in the riverbed below where the bridge once stood. They are sights, sounds and smells one never forgets. This is a picture we snapped the evening of August 14.
Like all our investigative probes into what went wrong, there is an important ''follow the money'' aspect. Why was the proper maintenance not done? Why wasn't the bridge closed so it could be properly inspected? How did one of Italy's engineering pride and joy icons end up this way? How at risk is the rest of Italy's aging infrastructure? These are all among the many questions we are asking.
